Henrico Jailors Academy Lobby Chat - TODAY

Stop by the Raleigh Building lobby TODAY between 1:30 and 3:30 to learn about the Henrico Summer Basic Jailor Academy program.  The Wilder School Office of Student Success and the Henrico County Sheriff's office will be available to share information about the program. This is an action packet summer internship for CRJS students with employment opportunities while you are still a student!

Considering a career in policy but aren't sure of the best path to reach your goals? Join School of Social Work & the Wilder School for a panel discussion with professionals in the field to answer your questions.

Panelists include VCU alumni with the following degrees:

  • Master of Social Work, concentration in administration, planning, and policy practice
  • Master of Public Administration

There will be a Q&A session and opportunity to connect with panelists and representation from the School of Social Work and Wilder School after the event.

The Part-Time Job Fair-This week!

A reminder that the Part-Time Job Fair will take place on Wednesday, January 29th from 2pm to 5pm in the Richmond Salons on the 2nd floor of the Student Commons.  Come learn about part-time and hourly opportunities, both on-campus and off-campus around RVA! This is a great time to see what opportunities are available, and how you can gain hands-on experience while you are in school.

2020 Governor's Fellowship Program

Governor Ralph Northam announced that applications for the 2020 Governor’s Fellows Program will be accepted through Monday, March 9, and invited students attending Virginia colleges and universities to apply. Since 1982, the Governor’s Fellows Program has offered participants firsthand state government experience at the highest level of Virginia’s executive branch.

 

Fellows are placed with a member of the Governor’s Cabinet or with a member of his personal staff, providing a unique opportunity to learn about the work and decision-making in the Office of the Governor. Governor’s Fellows also hear from special guest speakers from the Northam Administration and participate in site visits to state government agencies.

Qualified applicants must be rising college seniors, graduating seniors, or graduate students. All Virginia college and university students are eligible to apply, regardless of state of residence. Virginia residents who attend out-of-state colleges and universities are also eligible. Both public and private college and university students are encouraged to apply.

REU Programs - UNC-Charlotte and University of South Carolina

The criminal justice and criminology departments at the University of North Carolina- Charlotte (UNC-Charlotte) and the University of South Carolina (UofSC) have each been awarded National Science Foundation grants to establish Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) programs.

The Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology at the University of North Carolina - Charlotte is seeking applications for its REU Site: Data Science and Crime Analytics. The REU site brings together 9 selected undergraduate students to work with faculty from multiple departments to work on a research team during the 10-week program. Students will conduct research, attend workshops, and receive a stipend ($5,000), travel ($500) and food ($1,000) allowances, and university housing during the 2020 summer program. Police Officer - Mesa Police Department (Mesa, Arizona)

The Mesa Police Department will be accepting Police Officer Recruit applications.  Applicants will need to first apply online and if they meet minimum qualifications, we will invite them to our Physical Fitness and Written test, which is scheduled for March 7, 2020.  We will only be taking the first 800 online applications, so it will be best if they apply early.

Assistant Planner - Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning

The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) is hiring full-time employees at the Assistant level in the Planning Department, with an emphasis on long range planning, multimodal transportation, governance, and/or land use and zoning.
