Dear Wilder School Students

Happy First day of classes! The Wilder School Office of Student Success hopes you had a healthy and restful winter break. We look forward to working with you virtually during the Spring 2021 semester. 

*Friendly Reminder* - If you have an internship for Spring 2021 and would like to earn academic credit, please reach out as soon as possible to the Office of Student Success (wsinternship@vcu.edu) to learn the necessary step to register for the appropriate internship course. First, review the Guidelines and complete the Government and Public Experience Application. 

Students are able to continue remote and on-site internships for the spring semester. Off-Campus sites should abide by health and safety standards as mandated by the state regarding COVID -19 protocols. The Health and Safety Acknowledgement form, which has been updated for spring 2021, is required for students participating in off-campus, non-clinical academic activities. Please let us know if you have any questions.

IMPORTANT- retroactive credit cannot be given for past internship experiences. You must be registered for the internship course while completing your hours.  

2021-2022 Wilder School Scholarships application open

Below are the minimum scholarship application requirements (Additional requirements may be needed. Please review the list of requirements outlined in each scholarship description):

  • Completed Online Application (http://vcu.academicworks.com/
  • Unofficial Transcript  
  • Resume/CV  
  • One 500-word essay per scholarship describing why you deserve that specific scholarship 
  • One reference letter from VCU teaching faculty uploaded to your academicworks application or emailed directly to wsscholarship@vcu.edu (the student's name must be in the subject line)
  • Additional requirements may vary per scholarship 

*All applicants must have at least one completed semester of coursework as a VCU Wilder School student at the time of application submission. Applicants are able to apply for up to 3 Wilder School Scholarships for which they meet the eligibility requirements. Scholarship funds will be awarded in the fall 2021 semester. All recipients must be enrolled as a Wilder School student in fall 2021 at the required enrollment student status for the scholarship they are awarded.

2021-2022 Wilder Graduate Scholars Fellowship -Deadline March 15

The Wilder School Office of Student Success is now accepting applications for the Wilder Graduate Scholars Fellowship program!

This fellowship provides top full-time students in each of our master’s programs with professional work experience, in-state tuition, and a $14,500 stipend through a host employer. Fellowship placements are for one academic year that begins in August and ends in May. Fellows are expected to work 20 hours a week.

Virginia Management Fellows program

The Commonwealth of Virginia’s Management Fellows (VMF) program seeks emerging leaders with the desire to serve the people of the Commonwealth of Virginia, and a willingness to commit to a 2-year fellowship of state-level service and learning. Applicants should demonstrate an interest in public service and volunteerism, and the capacity to work as both a leader and a participant in team efforts. Critical thinking is a sought-after skill.

2021 Virginia International Business Council (VAIBC) Scholarship

Applications are currently being accepted for the 2021  Virginia International Business Council (VAIBC) Scholarship opportunity for undergraduate and graduate international students. The deadline for this scholarship is noon March 26, 2021. This scholarship is coordinated by Prof. Van Wood in the School of Business.

Real Estate Development Intern

Center Creek Homes, a dynamic real estate development firm based in Richmond, is seeking an Intern to join our team. This is an opportunity to participate in the full spectrum of the real estate development process in a highly professional environment, reporting to the company’s Development Executive.


In this position, you will assist in researching potential acquisitions and preparing underwriting analyses, as well as assisting in various stages of the development process, from entitlement through construction and marketing and sales. The ideal candidate will possess strong financial and communication/writing skills. Experience in real estate is a plus; a passion for learning and a commitment to detail and quality is a must.

Health Quality Innovators Health Policy Intern (Paid)

Health Quality Innovators (HQI) is a health quality consulting company that serves as the Medicare Quality Innovation Network-Quality Improvement Organization (QIN-QIO) for Virginia, Kansas, Missouri and South Carolina.

They are currently seeking a graduate-level Health Policy Intern (Paid) to join their Team. This position identifies, reviews, records, synthesizes and summarizes health care policies and regulations related to COVID-19 and infection prevention in nursing homes. Produces related informational resources for health care providers and government officials. Provides additional support to the National Nursing Home COVID-19 Coordinating Center as directed. This is a part-time (10-20 hours per week) remote employment opportunity.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Crime Scene Unit Summer Internship

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Crime Scene Unit Summer Internship is now accepting applications. This is an unpaid internship in NC. 

The intern will work alongside Crime Scene Unit personnel and be exposed to effective problem-solving and partnership-building skills, as well as, gaining a better understanding of day-to-day operations of the police department. The internship assignment will be an eight-week program working at least forty hours per week.

Arlington Police Department Internship

Applications are currently being accepted for the Arlington County Police Department Investigative Assistant Internship.  They prefer graduate students but are open to accepting undergraduate students and have done so in the past. 

The Summer 2020 deadline is March 1st . Applications submitted after that deadline will not be accepted. All applications will now be emailed to the application email account, instead of being mailed in: POLInterns@arlingtonva.us.

Summer D.C. Program - Internships, Networking + Credit

February 9 is the scholarship priority deadline for The Fund for American Studies Summer 2021 D.C. Academic Internship Program. 

In-person and virtual program formats will be offered this summer.

In addition to generous partial scholarship awards, we are continuing to award more than 25 full tuition and housing scholarships on a rolling basis.
