Henrico Jailors Academy Application -Deadline Feb.14

Rising juniors and senior criminal justice students participate in an eight-week Summer Basic Jailor Academy, offered in partnership with the Henrico County Sheriff’s Office. Graduates of the internship program are sworn in as Sheriff Deputies through the Department of Criminal Justice Services and are eligible for part-time employment in Henrico’s sheriff’s offices.

Summer Research Assistant - Spelman College (PAID)

The Gender Race and Cultural Empowerment (G.R.A.C.E.) Lab at Spelman College is hosting a 6-week summer program offering students the opportunity for one-on-one mentorship and research experience. The G.R.A.C.E. Lab's emphasis is on social psychology with a focus on the experiences of Black women in STEM education. A stipend, campus housing, and a campus meal plan are all included.

GIS Specialist - Department of Emergency Management

The Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of GIS Specialists. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Providing analytical services for the development and maintenance of geographic information systems for VDEM and its partner Virginia agencies in the Virginia Emergency Support Team
  • Developing relevant GIS products and tools in support of prevention, protection, response, recovery, and mitigation programs for VDEM as an agency but also the VEST and associated Emergency Support Functions to support operations in the Virginia Emergency Operations Center
  • Providing documentation and training to these same partners for use of GIS tools and products
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all levels of personnel and representatives of other state, local, private sector, and non-governmental organizations, including the Virginia Fusion Center
  • Developing documentation and meta data for GIS data layers and working environment for continuity of operations
  • Providing presentations as needed to various senior officials and private sector stakeholders.

Mastering Management Series by the VCU Center for Corporate Education

The Center for Corporate Education at the VCU School of Business is pleased to present our Mastering Management series, a comprehensive professional development program that builds essential skills for managing money, people and your career.
