Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) Information Session

Thursday, February 20th, 2020 from 1pm - 2pm

“Interested in working for the nation’s premier all-source military intelligence agency with a presence in 140+ countries? This month, a recent VCU graduate will discuss the hiring process and experiences working at DIA. DIA is recruiting for all portions – to include Analysis, Counterintelligence, and Science and Technology – and is interested in a wide range of students from the Wilder School. Students specifically interested in the CI Agent and Analysis career fields may provide their resumes at this event.

Students interested in future opportunities may additionally submit applications to internship programs and vacancy announcements posted on DIA’s Internships and Careers websites, listed below. 2020-2021 Wilder Graduate Scholars Fellowship -Deadline March 15

The Wilder School Office of Student Success is accepting applications for the Wilder Graduate Scholars Fellowship program!

This fellowship provides top full-time students in each of our master’s programs with professional work experience, in-state tuition, and a $14,500 stipend through a host employer. Fellowship placements are for one academic year that begins in August and ends in May. Fellows are expected to work 20 hours a week.

Richmond Mayors Fellows Program 2020

The City of Richmond 2020 Mayor's Fellows Program provides internship opportunities for undergraduate students and graduate students who have an academic interest and wish to gain experience in a specific area of study.  It is an opportunity to apply principles and theory learned in the classroom in a professional environment.  The Department of Planning Development & Review is seeking interested candidates to participate in the Internship Program.  Objectives will be to observe, learn, and understand the various operations within the department.

This is a paid internship ($11/hour).

Henrico County Internships

The County of Henrico is now accepting applications for a GIS and Planning Intern!

GIS Intern II: Deadline to apply, March 9, 2020. 

This is a paid internship, the rate is $12.76 per hour. 

Planning Intern: Deadline to apply, March 16, 2020. 

This is a paid internship for the Department of Planning for the Summer of 2020 for a current graduate level student or a college level student (rising junior or senior) pursuing a degree in a field relevant to internship. The rate of pay for a graduate level student is $14.68 per hour. The rate of pay for an undergraduate student is $12.76 per hour. Hiring selection and level is dependent on the qualification of the successful applicant and the needs of the County for this position at time of hire.

Chesterfield County Summer Internships (MPA)

The following Summer Internships are being offered by Chesterfield County that are relevant to students in the Master of Public Administration (MPA) Program.

Loudoun County Office of Emergency Management Internship

The Loudon County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is offering an unpaid internship opportunity to students seeking experience in emergency management. This internship program will provide an environment for the student to successfully learn and engage in design, implementation, and evaluation of local emergency management plans and programs. 

The OEM internship program requires 20-25 hours per week during regular business hours of Monday through Friday between 8:30am and 5:00pm. Interns may be asked to participate outside of normal business hours.

Eligibility

  • Current part-time or full-time undergraduate or graduate student
  • Must be earning credit through your educational institute
  • Enrolled in Public Administration or Emergency Management/Homeland Security Program
  • Possess 3.0 grade point average or higher

Brookings Institution Partnership School Research Internships

Brookings Institution is eager to hire student interns directly from VCU's Wilder School for summer 2020!

In an effort to create a pipeline for candidates from underrepresented groups interested in research and public policy, they are offering 5 paid internship opportunities this summer in Washington, D.C. only open to student applicants from schools they have visited; The Wilder School is a qualifying school! 

If you are interested, please review the attached position descriptions. In order to be considered, The Wilder School Office of Student Success must submit your application materials on your behalf. Students do not have access to the submission portal for these specific internships.
