The Niraj Verma Student Assistance Fund provides emergency funding to students

The Niraj Verma Student Assistance Fund provides emergency funding to students to aid them in completing their degree program in the L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs.  The eligibility requirements include:
*Full-time status (minimum of 12 undergraduate credits or 9 graduate credits)
*Pursuing a degree program in the Wilder School
*Preference to need-based financial aid students
*A demonstrated emergent need
There is a restricted amount of funds for distribution so the funding will be provided to a limited number of recipients.  To be considered please complete this form (https://forms.gle/3w4pq8d8LzyQ3Ajt5) no later than noon on April 17, 2020.

FEMA Internships

The Chesterfield County Police Department is seeking to hire a Forensic Investigator. This is primarily a field position - not a laboratory position. Very little lab work is done in-house. Investigate and process crime scenes; evaluate and process evidence; prepare detailed reports based on findings; present expert testimony in court; train department personnel in all aspects of forensic science; enter and retrieve data. Summer 2020 VDH/VDOT Project Internship Opportunity

The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) in partnership with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is seeking a VCU MURP student to serve as an Active Communities Policy Intern. This is an unpaid internship for Summer 2020.

2020 Constituent Services Summer Internship

Senator Mark R. Warner’s Vienna state office seeks undergraduates or recent graduates for a constituent services internship. Interns will assist state staff with community outreach, preparing congressional inquiries, research on pressing constituent issues, front office duties, and basic office administration. Applicants should be able to work independently, have excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills, and a desire to learn about the day to day functions of a Senate state office. Experience with Internet Quorum is a plus, but not required.

Candidates eligible to be considered for a stipend must:
  • Be applying for an internship in one of the Senator’s state offices;
  • Commit to a 12-week internship;
  • For a $600 pre-tax stipend, commit to work between 12 – 23 hours per week; for a $1000 pre-tax stipend, commit to work at least 24 hours a week;
  • Demonstrate strong ties to Virginia or attend a Virginia school;
  • Be authorized to work in the United States; and
  • Pursuant to federal law, be a U.S. citizen or meet one of three limited exceptions.
Interns available for fewer than 16 hours a week are eligible for an internship, but not a stipend.
