Wilder School open house for upcoming bachelor graduates

The Wilder School at Virginia Commonwealth University informs public policy through cutting-edge research and community engagement while preparing students to be leaders in public service. Please join us for a virtual open house on Monday, June 15th at 12 p.m. EST to learn more about our flexible and affordable graduate and certificate programs.

RAMmalogues for students: Learning and Working Amid Racism and a Pandemic

How is your life impacted in this time of crisis and pain and change? As you witness, experience or relive racism, how are you and what do you need? In these tumultuous and transformative times, being able to come together in community and conversation offers us an opportunity to connect, engage and heal. This special session of RAMmalogues includes a short guided meditation, time for reflection and a braver/safer space for dialogue and sharing your lived experience. RAMmalogues, led by trained facilitators provided by Kimbrough Consulting and Richmond Action Dialogues, provides an opportunity for all students to talk with each other about their social identities and lived experiences at VCU. Henrico County Emergency Management Internship

The County of Henrico is seeking interns to work with its Emergency Management department starting over the summer with the potential opportunity to continue through the fall. They hope to bring on a student intern ASAP. See below for information. 

Interns would work with the Henrico County Office of Emergency Management for up to 29 hours per week.

Duties would include:

  • Preparing documents for continued COVID response, local government transition plans. Review and preparation of Continuity of operations plans and continuity of government plans.
  • Support document management processes.
  • Prepare executive summaries and presentations for documents and processes.
  • Support Community outreach efforts.



  • 2.5 GPA in major
  • Undergraduate or Graduate student in HSEP program
  • Junior or higher student classification

Cato Insitute Fall 2020 Internship

The Cato Institute Internship Program is accepting applications for their Fall 2020 Internship. This paid internship is located in Washington DC. 

Their internships are for undergraduates, recent graduates, graduate students, law students, and early-career professionals.

Most Cato interns work primarily as researchers for our policy scholars. Individual department placements include defense and foreign policy, healthcare policy, constitutional studies, and numerous others.

IAEM Scholarship Program is Accepting Applications

The IAEM Scholarship Program Application Period is open and will close at 11:59:59 p.m. CDT on July 15, 2020. The IAEM Scholarship Program provides scholarships through a competitive process to full-time undergraduate and graduate students, and part-time graduate students, working on degrees in emergency management, disaster management, or closely related fields of study. Applications are received from students anywhere in the world, and students do not have to be members of IAEM. Awardees are selected based on applications and required complementary materials.

To be considered for an award in this year’s program, visit the online scholarship application portal, and review the application instructions. A login and password are necessary to complete the application. Individuals who do not have an IAEM account will be prompted to register (at no cost) prior to completing the application. Registration provides applicants access to update the application and provide additional documentation prior to the deadline.
