Registration is still open for the Experiential Opportunities Fair! Gain exposure to a work environment you want to explore through internships, engage with departments that offer undergraduate research activities, and more. October 21 Webinar - NIST's Community Resiliency Guide for Buildings and Infrast

VCU Global Education: Education Abroad Policy & Curriculum Integration Intern

The VCU Education Abroad Office is seeking an intern to work remotely for the fall 2020 semester. This intern will need to be enthusiastic, motivated, and an organized self-starter. The Policy & Curriculum Integration Intern position will assist in market and policy research; procedure and policy drafting; international curriculum research and integration with VCU curriculum from various academic departments; international program development; and, provide administrative support to the Education Abroad Office as needed. Possible projects include: revision of major advising sheets, organization and management of course equivalency database and course request form.

The office would love to host an MPA student in need of internship hours :)

DOJ Internship - Consumer Protection Branch

The Department of Justice’s Consumer Protection Branch (CPB) is responsible for the enforcement of most of the federal statutes that protect consumers from deceptive, unfair, or fraudulent practices. Many of these laws provide for both civil and criminal penalties. Each semester we offer a few unpaid internships for undergraduate students who are interested in pursuing a career in the law. This spring, the Consumer Protection Branch will host a remote internship program.

Local Government Management Fellowship

The Local Government Management Fellowship (LGMF) is a career-development opportunity designed to attract recent MPA/MPP (or related programs) graduates to be placed in full-time management-track local government positions.

Finalists are selected based on academic performance, demonstrated leadership potential, commitment to public service, communication skills, initiative, creativity, and positive attitude. They then interview for 12-month fellowship appointments at local governments across the country, during which they receive direct mentorship from a senior government leader at the organization. (Appointments may be extended beyond the one-year term.) Since the program's launch in 2004, 30 alumni fellows have been hired as chief administrative officers or assistant chief administrative officers; many others are in senior positions in local government.

DO YOU Program Coordinator

This is a full-time, time-limited position with the Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Action Alliance (Action Alliance) and in partnership with Virginia Commonwealth University’s Inquiry, Inclusion and Innovation (VCU iCubed Core). The DO YOU Program Coordinator will work with and adapt Action Alliance programming to deliver training to system-involved girls and the staff at those facilities and programs. This position will amplify and build upon our work in primary prevention of sexual and intimate partner violence, trauma-informed advocacy, and collaborative partnerships to create systemic changes that support healthy youth development and resiliency across Virginia.

2021 Leading Change Conference: Proposals accepted Oct. 15- Nov. 30

Proposals should address the following in 1000 words or less: 

  1. Alignment with the conference leadership theme;
  2. Problem or issue that will be addressed in the presentation;
  3. Topic’s relation to the state of knowledge in the field (including relevant literature and theory);
  4. Methodological approach (including analytical strategy and data sources);
  5. A brief account of conclusion and its significance to an interdisciplinary audience.

Submitted proposals (1000 words max) will be accepted through the conference website October 15th-November 30th.

Before submitting your proposal, it's recommended you: 

1. Carefully review the submission guidelines listed above or on our site before accessing the proposal portal.

2. Consult with your academic advisor, professor, or project supervisor for assistance and feedback on your written proposal
