Join TRIO SSS as we kick off National First-Generation Celebration Week with an interactive workshop facilitated by Dr. Eve Hudson. A first-gen and low-income college graduate herself, Dr. Eve went on to earn her Ph.D. at the age of 28. Her internationally known podcast The First-Gen Lounge was the first of its kind dedicated to highlighting the experience of first-gen students. During this workshop, Dr. Eve will lead faculty and staff through a series of activities and conversations to assist in better understanding how to engage and support the 33% of VCU’s student population who identify as first-generation. VCU BSDP Virtual Open House Invitation

The Biomedical Sciences Doctoral Portal (BSDP) at Virginia Commonwealth University is hosting a virtual open house on Tuesday, December 1st from 4:00 – 6:00 PM EST, and we would like to invite you to join us. The BSDP oversees admissions for and recruits students into six Ph.D. programs within the School of Medicine. During the open house, Dr. Roxann Roberson-Nay, Assistant Dean for Graduate Recruitment and Admissions, will introduce the BSDP; the six Program Directors will provide information about their programs; you will have the opportunity to engage with students from each of the six programs in separate breakout rooms; and there will be plenty of time for questions. VCU Global Education: Education Abroad Policy & Curriculum Integration Intern

The VCU Education Abroad Office is seeking an intern to work remotely for the fall 2020 semester. This intern will need to be enthusiastic, motivated, and an organized self-starter. The Policy & Curriculum Integration Intern position will assist in market and policy research; procedure and policy drafting; international curriculum research and integration with VCU curriculum from various academic departments; international program development; and, provide administrative support to the Education Abroad Office as needed. Possible projects include: revision of major advising sheets, organization and management of course equivalency database and course request form.

The Office of Delegate Dawn Adams Virginia House of Delegates — 68th District 20

The Session Aide is a temporary full time position lasting from mid-late December through the end of the regular session in February, with the potential for extension. The position will be remote when not in session, but the selected individual may from time to time be expected to report in-person to the Richmond office as circumstances require, maintaining appropriate social distancing and health protocols. Onsite in office attendance will depend on the venue for the 2021 General Assembly session.

Prior experience with the legislative process and office management is preferred, but not required. An educational background that includes policy analysis, development, and or the political process is required. Individuals with a diverse range of experiences will be considered to find the appropriate fit for the position.

The Session Aide will be hired directly by the Delegate to assist in the management of the legislator's office. Under the supervision and direction of the Delegate and Chief of Staff, a Session Aide shall have the ability to plan, organize, and carry out a broad range of functions, which may include:

Nonviolence International Spring Intern (remote)

As Nonviolence International’s staff is relatively small, interns play an integral role in NVI’s projects and functioning as a cohesive organization. While interns work closely with NVI staff members and volunteers, they are also expected to exhibit independence, creativity, and initiative. Each intern will split their time between research, programmatic support, organizational outreach, and administrative tasks, but will be able to invest significant time and work within their preferred projects of choice.

Training and Technical Assistance Manager

General Summary
BLH Technologies, Inc. (BLH) is an award-winning company specializing in communications, information technology, training and technical assistance (TTA), and safety monitoring solutions for Federal and commercial clients. BLH seeks an experienced Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) Manager to lead and coordinate onsite and remote TTA to support Federal social and human services programs for children and families. Candidates must have a demonstrated track record developing and delivering TTA interventions, managing budgets, and overseeing production and development of deliverables identified under Federal contracts. The TTA Manager will work virtually following CDC guidelines during the COVID-19 pandemic, but eventually the successful candidate will work out of BLH’s headquarters office in Rockville, Maryland. This position will require work-related travel and reports to the Project Director.

Desired Qualifications
Master’s Degree in a related discipline is required.
Minimum 8 years of relevant experience as a manager and TTA expert.
Federal contracting experience, including as a project/program manager.
Knowledge of social and human services programs for children, families, and underserved communities.

Training and Technical Assistance Associate

General Summary

The ideal candidate will have both a background in and experience with research and programs serving children, families, and underserved communities, and dealing with issues such as employment and training, Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), child welfare, food assistance, disability, domestic violence, child support enforcement, and/or early childhood education. BLH staff are currently working virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but eventually the successful candidate will work out of BLH’s headquarters office in Rockville, Maryland. Desired Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in a social science, public health, or related discipline is required.
Direct research and report writing experience.

Knowledge of the workforce development field and/or the TANF program is a plus.
Outstanding communication skills – verbal, written, and interpersonal.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Experience with Webinar platforms, such as Adobe Connect, Zoom, or GoToWebinar.
Ability to multitask and prioritize a varied workload in a fast-paced, team environment.
Ability to travel in support of TTA events.

Management Program Assistant (12 Month Temporary Position - Harrisonburg, VA)

The Emergency Management Program Assistant is a temporary position (anticipated duration of 1 year) with a preferred hiring range of $15.56 - $17.89 per hour. The position requires the selected candidate to work Monday through Friday from 8:00am - 5:00pm and the availability to work outside of these hours when needed. Due to the required work hours, the candidate will have the option to elect health insurance but all other full-time employee benefits will be unavailable.

Successful applicants for this position must successfully complete a drug screening, criminal background check, Personal History Statement, and DMV record review.
