The VCU Wilder School's Research Institute for Social Equity (RISE), in partnership with Policy Pathways, Inc., invites you to attend the UNCOUNTED Virginia Kick-Off on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM.
This event marks the official launch of Uncounted: Virginia, a groundbreaking initiative focused on preventing, documenting, and analyzing in-custody deaths across the Commonwealth. As part of a broader national effort, this work aims to increase transparency, strengthen data collection, and drive meaningful reform within the criminal justice system.

A book discussion and signing with Dr. Terence Keel, UCLA Professor and author of The Coroner’s Silence
Lunch will be available from 11:00 AM to 11:50 AM.
This event is free and open to the public. We welcome students and community members, advocates and nonprofit organizations, researchers and academics, policymakers and government leaders committed to advancing justice, accountability, and equity.
