Carolyn McCrea serves as the Director of the Virginia Credit Union Financial Success Center at VCU. She earned her M.Ed. in education planning, policy, and leadership from the College of William & Mary, and her B.A. from James Madison University. Mrs. McCrea is an Accredited Financial Counselor with the Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education, with a passion for promoting financial wellness and literacy within her community. Since joining the newly established Financial Success Center, Mrs. McCrea has created numerous financial education programs and resources for the VCU community, including peer financial coaching for students and alumni. She has worked on projects including the review of the statewide financial literacy course required for Virginia high school students and a savings initiative for VCU graduate and undergraduate students. Mrs. McCrea has considerable experience developing, implementing and evaluating financial wellness programs and her research will seek to measure the effect of such programs on social and economic equity.
