Jessica Smith is a second year Ph.D. student in the Public Policy and Administration program here at L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs.  Jessica joins the program after 9 years of experience serving the citizens of the Commonwealth, first as the Public Safety Initiatives Coordinator at the Attorney General’s Office and most recently as the School, Campus, & Public Safety Resource Specialist at the Virginia Center for School & Campus Safety.  Ms. Smith is a 2007 graduate of North Carolina State University, receiving her B.A. in Political Science.  In May of 2017, Ms. Smith received her M.S. in Criminal Justice from Virginia Commonwealth University.  During her tenure at VCU, Jessica was recognized as an Outstanding Graduate Student.  Her research interests include school safety, violent crime reduction strategies, and juvenile violent crime.
