Mary holds a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology and a Master’s degree in Environmental Studies from Virginia Commonwealth University, where she focused on pollution physiology and contaminants of emerging concern. Mary has since earned a certificate in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) as well as a certificate in Research Administration. She worked for a state agency as a program coordinator on a federally funded project before going into the field of research administration at VCU, where she worked for the Division of Sponsored Programs for almost seven years. She is currently the Research Development Administrator for the Division of Research Development within VCU's OVPRI. Her research interests include social equity, research funding inequality, environmental justice, and AI in education. Mary also enjoys Olympic weightlifting in her free time.
