Library Exhibits Wilder School Planning Posters

October is National Community Planning Month, and the Wilder School is pleased to share work by students in the Master of Urban and Regional Planning (MURP) program in a special exhibit on the first floor of Cabell Library.
MURP students created these posters last April for the Wilder School’s annual Plan-Off!, proposing solutions to planning issues facing our region. Students work with clients and community stakeholders to complete their plans, many of which become reality.
The exhibit is near room 121. Posters on display are:
• “A Heritage Tourism Plan for Henrico County,” by Laura Howell
• “Power Down Downtown,” by Wendy Fewster
• “Transit-Oriented Development at Willow Lawn Station,” by Michelle Portier
“At the Wilder School, our students gain hands-on experience through real-world projects to help build vibrant communities,” said Meghan Gough, Ph.D., associate professor and chair of the MURP program. “This display allows us to spotlight the talents of our students and showcase how our work positively impacts the region we serve.”
Bettina Peacemaker, assistant head of Cabell Library’s Academic Outreach Department, said, “The library is pleased to offer a designated space to share student and faculty scholarship. Both graduate and undergraduate students are doing meaningful research and by sharing it in a public place like Cabell, perhaps we can help inspire new research avenues and ideas."
