Shajuana Isom-Payne, director of student success, has coauthored a chapter, “Constructivist approaches to counseling children,” with D.M. Gibson that appears in the book, “Counseling children and adolescents: Connecting theory, development and diversity.”

Also, Isom-Payne will join the presenting team as one of the leading presenters at the inaugural Student Success Institute at Penn State University June 1-3. Her presentation is titled, “Rethinking Service Strategies: Collaborative Efforts between Faculty and Staff for Supporting Diverse Student Populations.”

She will discuss strategic approaches to developing engaging collaborations across campus, within departments and in the community to ensure meaningful experiential learning opportunities for students; present guided reflection for students to identify academic and professional goals; and foster the development of leadership skills that support student success and retention, including particular considerations for supporting a diverse student population.
