Virginia Capitol Semester Seeking 2018 Interns
The Wilder School is currently seeking internship applications for its flagship legislative internship program, Virginia Capitol Semester. The deadline for applications is Monday, October 2. Residence is in Richmond during the Spring Semester of 2018.
The Virginia Capitol Semester offers qualified undergraduates the chance to gain firsthand experience in the legislative arena while taking classes as a full-time student at Virginia Commonwealth University. Interns get behind-the-scenes access to the world of policymaking by working directly under the supervision of legislators connected to the General Assembly. Typical duties include conducting policy research, preparing policy briefings and staffing the legislative office.
The Virginia Capitol Semester is open to qualified undergraduates enrolled in an accredited public or private Virginia college or university. The core of the program is a 20-hour-a-week internship and an accompanying policy seminar featuring presentations by key government and political leaders. Participants earn 15 academic credits, receive housing and a stipend.
