Isom-Payne Receives Prestigious Advising Award

Congratulations to Wilder School Assistant Dean of Student Success Shajuana Isom-Payne, recipient of the 2021 Outstanding Advising Advocate Award presented by the University Academic Advising Board! The Outstanding Advising Awards annually recognize individuals who have demonstrated qualities associated with exceptional academic advising of students or academic advising administration.

Shajuana, who served previously as the Wilder School’s director of student success, has led the reorganization of the Wilder School’s Student Services division to include a holistic advising system that integrates academic, career and personal development components regardless of a student’s location or level of study. These efforts include all Wilder School students being served by a dedicated professional adviser that follows the student from major declaration to graduation, increased student participation in experiential learning programs, strengthened degree audits and a rigorous assessment of outcomes. Cheers to Shajuana on this much-deserved recognition!
