About the presenter:

Anbu Arumugam, Ph.D., is a senior assistant professor in the Department of Public Administration, Annamalai University, India. She is currently on deputation to the Presidency College, Chennai and is head of the Department of Public Administration, Government Arts College in Nandanam, Chennai. She possesses more than 18 years of experience in teaching, research and administration.

Her research areas are gender equality, social equity, sustainable development goals and school feeding programs. She has five books to her credit and has published articles in more than 20 referred journals nationally and internationally. She is a University of Madras Gold Medalist in MA Public Administration (2003). She served on the University Grants Commission, Government of India, New Delhi as a Junior Research Fellow (2006). Dr. Anbu obtained her Ph.D. from the same university in 2016.

Arugman teaches courses related to public administration and public policy at both the undergraduate and graduate level. She explores the intersectionality between social equity, gender and school feeding programs. Other areas of research include sustainable development goals focused on gender equality. At present she is working on a research project themed: “Aspirational Districts Programme of India”, which is funded by the Mahatma Gandhi National Council for Rural Education, Hyderabad, under the aegis of Ministry of Education, Government of India. She is currently working on a Minor Action Research Project sanctioned by MGNCRE. 

About the Wilder School Doctoral Lecture Series in Public Policy:

The Doctoral Lecture Series gives students the opportunity to learn from and engage with leading scholars in a variety of fields related to public policy with a specific focus on race and social equity each year. This series, and conversations and ideas that challenge and inspire us to achieve a more just society, are more relevant and critically important than ever before. After a two year hiatus, the series returns in person.
