Harper-Anderson Named APPAM Entrepreneurship Policy Faculty Fellow

Congratulations to Elsie Harper-Anderson on being named an Entrepreneurship Policy Faculty Fellow by the Association for Policy Analysis & Management (APPAM). Harper-Anderson is one of four faculty colleagues selected nationally to develop and deliver curriculum for an inaugural cohort of student Entrepreneurial Policy Fellows who will receive personalized instruction on topics such as the impact of public policies on the business environment, how economics and program structures and frameworks should take the entrepreneurial perspective into account and what the future holds for the role of business in public policy.
Designed to help students explore the relationship between public policy and the entrepreneurial environment, the Entrepreneurial Policy Fellowship is made possible through the support of APPAM and the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation. Both Fellows and Fellowship Faculty will be celebrated at the 2021 Annual Fall Research Conference in March 2022 in Austin, Texas.
Last month, Harper-Anderson was awarded a $288,585 grant from the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation to address systemic challenges to entrepreneurial growth. The three-year project will offer an assessment of the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Richmond, Va. by comparing the experiences of historically disadvantaged ethnic minority entrepreneurs to white entrepreneurs through a combination of qualitative and weekly diaries.
